China Visa Guide for U.S. Travelers (2026 Edition)

Most U.S. passport holders will need a visa to visit mainland China unless they qualify for Transit Without Visa (TWOV). China currently offers several TWOV programs, including 24-hour, 72/144-hour, and up to 240-hour transit options. Eligibility varies by port of entry and region.
