China Visa Guide for U.S. Travelers (2026 Edition)

January 1, 2026

Do U.S. Citizens Need a Visa for China?

Do U.S. Citizens Need a Visa for China?

Most U.S. passport holders will need a visa to visit mainland China unless they qualify for Transit Without Visa (TWOV). China currently offers several TWOV programs, including 24-hour, 72/144-hour, and up to 240-hour transit options. Eligibility varies by port of entry and region.

If you're unsure about your eligibility for TWOV, Loong Explorer can help verify your route and confirm whether you qualify.
